Senior cross country runner Brinley Rodgers was a leader for the girls team last year in their most successful season under coach Damon Bautista, and she hopes to accomplish even more during the current season.  She took the time to answer a few questions for UTHS News:

What’s your favorite memory from this season?
“Opening race. Being on the start line with the excitement of getting ready to go.”

Who inspires you the most?
“My parents inspire me to work smart and hard but my grandma (who I recently lost) gave me the drive to do my very best.”

Why did you choose to participate in this particular sport?
“It’s in my blood–I’ve always had this feeling I needed to run.”

What do you plan to do in the future, and will sports be a part of it?
“I would like to be a veterinarian and I’m hoping to get a scholarship of some sort in running. After college I would like to coach or help coach a team.”

What are you going to take away from this season?
“That nothing great achieved is easy, dedication and drive are key factors in a successful season and to never give up. The biggest thing is to always be you.”
